Pontics and Politics is an annual event, held jointly by Arizona’s two dental schools, Midwestern and ASDOH, in which students go head-to-head in an intense evening of politically-charged debates about hot topics in dentistry.
This year, we debated whether or not implantology should be a stand-alone specialty, and whether or not dental benefits should be added to Medicare. I’m happy to report that the students from Midwestern University won the event and took home the trophy for the first time in four year!
In addition to the rivalry, there were presentations from Heartland Dental and the president-elect of the ADA, Dr. Jeffrey Cole, as well as great food and drinks. I highly recommend the event and hope to see you there next year!
